Sabyasachi’s Bespoke Cutlery Range Shines At Thomas Goode

In September 2019 Thomas Goode announced its partnership with Sabyasachi Mukherjee to define a wedding trousseau and cater to the luxury gifting market. The made to order collections ‘Sanctuary Coromandel Red’ and ‘East Of Calcutta’ . A year later they are now available to shop on www.thomasgoode.com. Sabyasachi and Thomas Goode created a tableware collection in which local flora and fauna, architecture, fables and parables were recreated through a hyper imaginative lens of Sabyasachi and hand rendered by the 43 artists from the Sabyasachi Art Foundation.

The designs depict the familiar tropical flora and fauna of Kolkata, with Sabyasachi’s signature tiger motif finding its place prominently. Calcutta and India play a pivotal role in the design ideology of the very first Sabyasachi x Thomas Goode collaborative dinner plates.

At the online launch of the beautiful collection, Sabyasachi narrated his philosophy behind the creation of the first bespoke collection for Thomas Goode. He said, “The first collection that I have done for them is inspired by homes in North Calcutta. I have seen the most beautiful tea sets all from England in one of the most splendid homes and some of the best clubs in Calcutta. I have also grown up with a lot of Devonshire pottery in the house and that uses a particular rose At the online launch of the beautiful collection, Sabyasachi narrated his philosophy behind the creation of the first bespoke collection for Thomas Goode. I have also grown up with a lot of Devonshire pottery in the house and that uses a particular rose mather indigo, and earthy brown and cream and am inspired by the way they paint pretty landscapes on their tea sets. For me, this collaboration is a re-imagination of all of that. I admire the fact that Thomas Goode is the epitome of British craftsmanship and in terms of pedigree, there really is no second in the world to it”.
