RUBINA A. KHAN: REEL IS WHAT'S REAL TODAY

April 13, 2020

Rubina A Khan is an international Journalist and Photographer (Getty Images, Europe). Her editorial and photo work is published in leading publications like Paris Match, Gulf News, Fortune New York, Forbes, BBC, Harper’s Bazaar, Monocle, Travel+Leisure, Architectural Digest & Tatler. In her podcast, she takes you through the importance of visual art, in a time when reel is real, as the world around us unravels through imagery more than ever today.

We are coming to terms with a whole new world – one that is brought to us by the eyes and the lenses of photographers across the world, that are risking their lives as much as our first responders out there. The reel is what’s real today thanks to them, telling us what’s happening every minute and every hour of every new day, through their cameras. Photography is art, frozen in time – almost like an entr’acte between the time when the photograph was taken to the current time of its viewing. Except that all the photographs that we see now are in real-time of a very unreal, very unknown world that has fallen deafeningly silent, bereft of humans.
