The fourth edition of DCAW will be a week-long public celebration of contemporary art with a stellar line-up of artworks, walkthroughs, events, talks, workshops, and much more.
Delhi Contemporary Art Week (DCAW) is a curated forum drawing on the synergies between seven like-minded galleries in the city, who have been promoting contemporary art consistently and are committed to the vision of coming together to educate, showcase and promote Contemporary Art. This edition of DCAW will present an impactful curation of artworks by the seven participating galleries along with a stellar lineup of curated events, talks, workshops, and much more in the pipeline.
Contemporary Art in South Asia is more exciting than it has ever been. All the seven Delhi-based galleries have come together again to showcase a new wave of artists from India and the sub-continent. Delhi Contemporary Art Week (DCAW) will have a new venue this year – Bikaner House in the heart of New Delhi – and be open to the public for seven days. DCAW was initiated as an attempt to generate discourse that befits the shifting lens of the contemporary. DCAW is conceptualized to be the ultimate destination for established and emerging collectors, and art enthusiasts who are eager to be part of this conversation and want to know more.
This year DCAW is taking place at a new venue, Bikaner House which will bring in new energy and vigour to the event with its grand colonial-era architecture and spacious exhibition spaces. In addition to the showcase at Bikaner House, the seven partner galleries will also be holding exhibitions with a focus on contemporary art at each of their individual galleries, creating a citywide fervor around contemporary art. Additionally, there will be a specially curated group exhibition of interdisciplinary practices by accomplished young curator Reha Sodhi titled “Residues” in the Main Ballroom’s side wing. A curated programme of events for collectors, connoisseurs, and art lovers will include Talks, Workshops, Walkthroughs, Wine Tastings, and more. The size of the venue will leave ample room for a social distancing and safe experience for all visitors and we can step forward in the realm of contemporary art while keeping in compliance with the pandemic guidelines.
“2020 was a year to Stop, pause and think! And that’s exactly what we did and, in this pursuit, launched the ‘Platform’ section at Blueprint12. Our aim is to present these young, emerging artists using experimental art forms at the DCAW, which is an ideal platform for artist-collector interaction. We are looking forward to presenting a well curated art week!” says Ridhi Bhalla and Mandira Lamba from Blueprint 12.

Our times call for a new level of creative and collective thinking and together we have conceived this edition of DCAW, which despite the times we’re going through, will give art connoisseurs an engaging interactive space to experience the best of contemporary art. DCAW’s new venue, the cultural haven of Bikaner House, brings fresh energy to DCAW with its grand colonial-era architecture and multiple exhibition spaces. Additional to our program of events at Bikaner House, we are planning new exhibitions at each of the DCAW partner’s individual galleries, extending the week-long event throughout the capital. ” says Bhavna Kakar from Latitude 28.

“Shrine Empire will be presenting the works of Divya Singh and Puja Mondal for the first time at DCAW along with our other gallery artists like Tayeba Begum Lipi, Samanta Batra Mehta, and Neerja Kothari. Look forward to fresh and innovative programming including talks and workshops in smaller groups at Bikaner House and collateral events around the city,” says Shefali Somani from Shrine Empire.
“Vadehra Art Gallery is pleased to announce our participation in this year’s Delhi Contemporary Art Week at Bikaner House, where we will be presenting an energetic curation that’s fresh, playful and poignant, by an exciting list of emerging and younger contemporary artists, including Shrimanti Saha, Vicky Roy, Shailesh B.R., Sujith S.N., Pranati Panda, Jasmine Nilani Joseph, Treibor Mawlong and Bakula Nayak. Over the lockdown last year we introduced a new digital programme called Fresh by VAG, through which we feature and support our younger and emerging artists and contribute a percentage of the proceeds towards NGOs working to rehabilitate communities suffering from the outbreak of COVID-19.
