Shalini’s monochromatic lens rediscovered the timeless allure of Delhi, with the resilience of Delhi being captured in every frame. Delhi’s architecture is a living chronicle of cultural confluence and historical continuity. The exhibition showcased Delhi through the labyrinthine streets of Old Delhi, the grandeur of Mughal architecture and Contemporary structures, each photograph laced with layers of history and immemorial facets about the city which has stood the test of time.
The exhibition brought attention to iconic landmarks, transforming into ethereal compositions, where light and shadow dance in harmony. The black-and-white juxtaposition allowed viewers to immerse themselves in intricate details and exquisite designs. This collection of photographs held significant value in contemporary times. The absence of human presence within the compositions symbolised nature’s potency but also reminded human resilience.
“I was born in Delhi. I studied here and live here. Delhi’s architecture has always been an inspiration for me. The life of the city has always been personified through its architecture and it has many beautiful memories associated with it. Hence, I wanted to encapsulate this in photographs. Basically, it’s Delhi through my eyes, the way I would like to see it.”
