GALERIST | ART SHOW | ‘TRAVELLER IN THE MAP’ | 20TH TO 25TH FEBRUARY, 2024

Galerist is pleased to be part of the Art Show: Galleries United, between February 20 and 25, 2024. Exhibiting works by Hüseyin Bahri Alptekin, Merve İşeri, Şahin Kaygun, Nuri Kuzucan, Lara Ögel, Yusuf Sevinçli, Ayça Telgeren, Elif Uras and Nazım Ünal Yılmaz, the presentation titled ‘Traveller in the Map’ focuses on the themes of map, journey and subjectivity. Departing from the concepts of documentation, representation and storytelling, it embarks on a physical and spiritual journey. The maps, embodying the connotations of time and movement, invite us to take on the role of the protagonist of the presented adventures implied by their still landscapes. Being the evolving hero of this quest focuses more on the choices of paths, than that of the hills or plains, seasides or the riverbeds accompanying us.

The installation is inspired by Italo Calvino’s essay of the same name dating back to 1980.
